The color change takes place immediately on large-area contact with a hot surface and can thus indicate overheating or a risk of burns. For the most accurate results, the cable tie should be in full contact with the surface. The striking green color slowly decreases in opacity at temperatures of 40°C, and at 49°C the cable tie is completely translucent. The onset of the complete color change is an indicator that there is a risk of burns if skin contact continues.
